Creating a Buzz

A midnight shoot featuring killer talent

Artistic challenges are greatly inspirational to me. Recently, a local artist, Linette Smith presented me with a challenging project. I embraced this opportunity to produce the promotional photos and design for Scona Alumni Company's Fringe production. I am grateful for this opportunity to push myself.

Behind the Scenes

This project involved night photography in colorfully lit areas of the city. It required careful lighting and creative staging of a large group of actors to photograph both individual and group shots. Actors wore insect costumes to portray the hive. The night backdrops showcased the dramatic costumes and artistic presentation by talented actors. This late night shoot involved transporting gear and crew to three locations downtown Edmonton - Ice District, Legislature Buildings and the High Level Bridge.

The Theatrical Story of The Killing Jar

Written and scored by Chris Scott, "The Killing Jar" is a dark and comic musical exploration of our modern obsession with celebrity icons. The plot revolves around a mass killing that takes place at the exclusive club the Hive, run by social philanthropist and activist Queen B. Who out there in our great society could possibly have stooped to such a morale low? And why?

The Killing Jar will be running at the 38th Annual Edmonton Fringe. Check out the show August 15 - 25, 2019. Tickets go on sale August 7th.
